I donated plasma at Talecris from ~2007-2010 and just started donating again in 09/2017. I've never had a problem with the staff; they've always been nice. Of course there's a lot of banter between staff members (particularly the phlebotomists) but that doesn't bother me; everyone socializes on the job (it's part of being human).
I had been going to this place for over 6 months, until a couple of weeks ago. They told me their test of my recent blood indicated I had a std. Which was a surprise to me, because I hadn't had any sexual conduct for well over a year. The nurse told me they do have false positive results and that I should have my doctor's do a independent blood test. So, I'm really confused. I go to my doctor's office and show them the paperwork. They draw my blood and a week later I get the results, no std found. This text cost me $100.00, approximately. I take the results back to them, and show them all the text that was ran, and all the results from said test, all showing negative for any std. The nurse took my paperwork and disappeared. 30 mins later another nurse comes to tell me, their policies changed that weekend and they couldn't accept my documents or the results from my doctor. I was flabbergasted. So, don't waste your time with a incompetent and irresponsible facility, I'm absolutely positive my treatment was based on my age, and for that reason they can kiss my.........plus their wait times are simply unbelievable. The floor employees stand around talk all day. They are so very slow and doesn't have enough people to accommodate the customer base. A complete revamp of staff and management, if there's any, should be done. Never lie to your customer base and never use a std as reason to deny customer donation, especially when you admit your test could be a false positive, which it was for me. With time, gas and travel, I lost over $150.00 trying to prove I wasn't infected with a std. No one should have to go through this. So I wouldn't recommend this place.
Their reimbursement amounts are fair; I haven't completed a full month yet, but I remember back in 2009 I would bring home ~$240.00 per month. I've heard that other centers pay better, but considering the location, I don't mind earning a bit less. Worth mentioning is that they USED to vend cash directly, but they now place it on a debit-like card; however, if you need the cash in your account, you can go online and transfer it, but it takes 2-3 business days to go through. I neglected to activate the card for a few days and was still able to transfer the $50.00, so don't freak out if you're a few days late, but do remember to transfer the money as soon as you get home!
These employees are undeniably untrained, unsupervised and ill mannered. Seemed like a rewarding experience so we drove two hours to get here to donate plasma but the front desk waved her arm and mumbled, "We are not taking new donors. Not needing new donors today." Tried to explain the situation but she mumbled the same thing again. Sitting here in a room overflowing with doners but I'm the only person that's not being allowed to fill out the questionnaire or even talk.
Every time I come, they r unprofessional. It was me and a black grl who came in after me at the counter and she was helped before me. It was like I didn't exist until she walked up. The staff, including the security guard is loud and cussing. Go to Conway and don't waste ur time being treated and hearded like cattle.
FINAL OVERALL RATING (NOT AN AVERAGE) = 8/10.
After being a donor for over 12 months I experienced rude and unprofessional behavior from the staff. A new donor sitting near me in waiting area called one of the staff members a derogatory name. Staff member called me to the back to ask me if the lady sitting near me called her a @#%&?. I said ask her not me. I told staff member she was not a nice person. I was not allowed to donate because they say my protein was off 1point. I didn't believe that. I will never go again!
STAFF BEHAVIOR = 8.5/10:
REIMBURSEMENT AMOUNT = 7.5/10.
I've only had a few experiences with unsuccessful venous access attempts but I also realize that everyone makes mistakes. I once witnessed a donor returning to the clinic in the middle of the summer after having walked out 30 minutes prior; he didn't drink the sports drink they used to give every donor (before they started giving IV saline solution to rehydrate); he immediately had a syncopal episode and fell; the medical staff responded immediately and performed their duties in a very professional manner; they obviously knew what they were doing.
STAFF SKILL RATING = 8/10.
