Cozy bar, laid back spot where you can be yourself. Reminds me of the bars back in the 70's. Gets smokey at times. Old building has class that people don't recognize. Bartenders could be a little more friendly
Friendly, efficient staff, great decor. Good selection of beer and wine. Good crowd during both of my visits.
Fun dive bar. Great bartenders. Smoke heavy on weekends. Cheap beer. Good music.
There is really nothing very special about this place, but it is a fun spot to gather because it usually has plenty of people in it. They have free shuffle board and two pool tables. They also have a back patio with a bar they don't use with a TV above it. Definitely the younger crowd from around the Hillcrest area.
The Fountain doesn't serve liquor, but I think this is to their credit. The pool tables are cheap and regularly available, their outside seating is plentiful for smokers, and they have a decent selection of craft beers, local beers, and good value wines. I recommend going during weeknights because the place fills up with a fratty/yuppie crowd on Fridays and Saturdays. Nothing wrong with that crowd but it does take away from the hole in the wall vibe that I love about The Fountain.
