The absolute best place I could imagine to stay in Little Rock-- exquisitely rebuilt/remodeled, with inspired interior decor, and amazing architectural features, a great breakfast in the dining room (that I unfortunately had to pass on), a wonderful person at the front desk, plus several sitting rooms, and a veranda, lovely flower beds, and good parking. I arrived late on a night that was the only night off for the manager, but she left me instructions, room key, etc. There are nine rooms. I learned that for some reason, she had upgraded my room at no additional charge, and deleted the breakfast portion from my bill, and given me a businessperson discount. I would loved to have taken up permanent residence . The Empress of Little Rock his haunted, but the ghost was as miserable about the election results that night as I was and didn't spend any time ghosting about. It never occurred to me that a ghost might have political leanings, but considering this ghost might be a passionate patriot from (obviously) an earlier time in our history... why not? Arrive early for a tour if you want to know the history of the place.
Gorgeous place. Very quiet. Highly recommend.
Booked the ‘grand high tea’ at the Empress recently for a special birthday date with my wife. They are certainly trying and the house is impressive but so much could have been done better. First off we were sat in a large dining room at the head of the table. Not ideal as the home has multiple parlors and sitting areas that would have been more comfortable, private, and appropriate for tea service. The tea served was an apple herbal tea. Our hostess never talked about the tea, asked us what kind of tea we would have preferred, or served anything other than the one apple tea. This is overall pretty unusual for a high tea, where tea presumably is the focal point. Our hostess was a very nice women, but after two hours of tea service and a tour of the home, my wife and I might have had ten minutes of conversation that didn’t include the hostess. It was more of a visit with a women we don’t know and didn’t expect to spend the afternoon with and tea happened to be served. Again, all very nice, but people generally go to tea to be with the company of the people the bring with them, not to eat and drink tea in front of a stranger 95% of your visit. Overall, we would not go again or recommend to others.
Loved it. Such wonderful people. The hospitality, the cleanliness, i can't brag about it enough. The breakfasts are exquisite. Beautiful beautiful place.
I stayed in the Hemingway Suite in the Carraige House and found the amenities to be very comfortable. I loved the Jacuzzi tub and steam shower especially. Breakfast was provided and was delicious! The staff and service were amazing. Additionally, the location was very convenient to downtown. I would definitely recommend it!
