My sister and I went to Cheddar's after church for lunch. There was a good crowd. It wasn't terribly busy. No waiting list. We were seated immediately. We waited 10 minutes to get some service. We finally flagged the manager down, and let him know we had been waiting a while on our server. The server finally showed up. He took our order for an appetizer and meal. He brought the appetizer, but no plates. My sister had to flag the server down for plates. He then brought back wet plates. We received our food, it was not very hot more like warm. Then I found a hair in my food. I was DONE!!! I have been to Cheddar's several times before, but this experience was the worst.
I wait for another 10 minutes at the bar, their designated "to-go" place, while the bartender takes orders, payments, and helps several people at the bar. I figure she can't help so she probably is just avoiding eye-contact. Finally the to-go person shows up, asks for my name then leaves again. I wait another 10 minutes, get a phone call from work and step outside for a moment to take care of it because the din inside was quite loud. I come back maybe 5 minutes later, my order is sitting on the counter, so I think "Oh great! Everything's here, just needed a bit of patience, not a problem."
The food was.good. Customer service had improved. The manager came over to ensure everything was fine. I planned a surprise baby shower here. The staff was very helpful. The only downfall was I couldn't make reservations. Its a first come, first serve basis and they won't seat you until half the party has arrived.
For the record, I am not, nor was I, unreasonable. It was a Wednesday, and there was a lunch rush. They were probably understaffed, and this waitress may have been on several tables that were crazy. I totally get that, and accept that. However, there were so many employees on their phones, or horsing around with each other, or for some reason peering down the bar. I believe the gentleman in the suit seated in a booth behind me was garnering a lot of spare attention, though I have no idea why.
This is not my only story like this at this location, this is just the most extreme story I've had from pretty much anywhere, especially a Cheddar's. My advice? Don't order to-go from this location, and avoid at all costs if anyone important is in town.
The food was AMAZING!!!! portion size was absolutely perfect and the drinks where awesome!!! Unfortunately my waiter decoded that because me and the three people I was with looked like the kind of people that didn't mind waiting for 1+ hours for our meal to get to us. He also assumed throwing the straws at us after serving our drinks is would help his tip. Which we where willing to over look because we where hungry and he might be having a bad day. So we brushed it off....I understand the lady that came in not long after we had placed our orders with our waiter would probably get her food out around the time we would because she had one plate to order. Or the family of four not far from us that had ordered food just as we sat down would leave about the time we would get our order...well the one lady and the family of four got their orders got their checks and where about gone before out waiter (who had been avoiding us) to walk past. So I had to call out to him to get a ETA ON our food. He said a few minutes. So about ten minutes later we are getting our food. Everything was good and honestly the waiter was nice but waiting that long on the food was ridiculous. So I was going to try to avoid this route and call the restaurant just to see what had happened yesterday instead of leaving a nasty review but the phone line is busy a d I've already tried three times...so I will not be back to this restaurants location. I recommend any other location besides this one...
I eat here once a week, the food is affordable and pretty tasty. If I were only rating the food, I'd give it 4 stars. However, this particular location has ridiculously horrid lunch service. There are constantly servers waiting around, apparently they have 1 person on "to-go" orders at a time.
This is where the real fun begins, note we're roughly 50 minutes into this encounter, but for the benefit of the doubt let's say I'm being dramatic and we're at 35 minutes. I wait, and wait, and wait, for at least another 10 minutes before I go and check my order. They got it wrong, fries instead of baked potatoes, and no ranch. Whatever, fries are fine I guess, the potatoes cost more I believe (loaded), but whatever, I don't care, I just want my food and I'll go.
The food was cold. After placing order, we waited 35 minutes to receive food and it was cold. The restaurant was NOT crowded. If you're looking for something similar to catfish, don't order the cornmeal fish - you'll be gravely disappointed. The server was nice, but she didn't refill our water glasses. I spoke to manager about the cold food. He didn't take it too well and seemed annoyed. We won't be back. Too many other good restaurants to choose from.
7 minutes later, I timed this one out of frustration and sheer awe of the experience, the waitress came back with my card, and told me they were out of baked potatoes, and then bolted again, when I mentioned the ranch, she jerked to back and grabbed one off another order and put it on mine. I left very confused.
I begin looking around, and there are wait staff across the bar staring over near me, I say out loud to the bartender "Excuse me, can I pay for this please?" I waved, I shouted (politely, I genuinely just wanted to leave, I am not a confrontational person by nature). I finally, after having no one acknowledge my "grown-man standing in a crowded room literally waving his hands over his head" style, attracted enough attention to get the to-go waitress over to me to take my payment, I noted the lack of ranches, mention there were supposed to be two ranches and two loaded baked potatoes, and she runs back to the kitchen with my card.
I wasn't going to leave a review at all, but the service last Wednesday was ridiculous. I called my order in before I left my office, they tell me it'll take about 20 minutes. I get there about 15 minutes later, hang out in my car for 10 minutes to give them time because they look pretty busy, and then go in. My food isn't done, which is no problem, I get it, they were very busy.
